A VERY good field of 50 golfers braved the cool windy conditions last Saturday to contest a Single Stableford event sponsored by Geoff Leonard and Mick Arnall.

With the fast greens and cool weather good scoring proved difficult with 37 points being the best anyone could muster on the day.

Chris Francis once again illustrated his consistency by winning A Grade with a 37, beating David Rigglesford on a count back.

Not only did Chris pick up am impressive meat tray from the day's sponsors but he also won the Guzzler's Mug, something of which he will undoubtedly make good use.

B Grade went to the veteran, Les McIntosh, with a solid 35 points, five clear of his nearest rival in this grade.

The C Grade winner was Julian Minehan, a newcomer to the club, with a good score of 37 points.

As a result of his efforts Julian will be welcomed into B Grade next time he tees off, reducing his handicap by one to move to 19.

Robyn Johns continued her good form with a good score of 35 points to be runner-up in C Grade.

The Ball Competition went down to 32 points on a countback, suggesting how difficult scoring was on the day.

Nearest-the-Pin on the 4th/13th was won by Mark Smith, 2.82 metres from the pin while Guy McIntosh was closest on the 7th/16th with a good shot to within 1.70 metres.

This Saturday's event will be another Single Stableford event, sponsored by Gary Seaman's "Lochness Merino Stud".

It will also be the annual 'Lefties versus Righties' day, an important contest with bragging rights at stake for the next twelve months.

Sunday will also see the first round of the Mixed Foursome Championship .
